Adventure
for Kids |
|
Adventure for Kids program is the
community out reach program of AMI. The goal is
to give kids in WNC the oppertunity to go climbing
with the purpose of personal growth, stewartship
and personal change. It will serve the under the
previledged youth by working with other organizations
to take kids climbing. The goal is to develop
character, leadership and stewardship of our community.
Organizations served include:
- 4H
- Girls and Boys Club
- Randolph Learning Center
These kids are not the ones who get to go to
camp and have outdoor experiences. AMI is donating
resources to make this happen, but more is needed
to cover cost such as insurance, equipment and
time.

Climb
For Kids
Ed Maggart and Patrick Weaver in conjunction
with Appalachian Mountain Institute are embarking
on “Climb for Kids”. In July of
2008, Ed Maggart and Patrick Weaver of AMI are
attempting to climb Yosemite’s Half Dome
via the Northwest Regular Route. This climb
is 1800 feet tall and guarded by a 7 mile approach.
The goal of this fundraiser is one dollar a
foot for a total of $1800. 100% of these proceeds
will go toward “Adventure for Kids”
program. The goal is to serve over 75 kids in
WNC.
